It is easily a special place to share….Perhaps, it was s a spiritual connection where the breeze and grassland met the sky.Wonderful day trip and plenty of picnic parking to commune with natures peace.

Cool place with some great history and memorabilia of the past for the Crow Indians. Nice staff, short trail walks, picnic area, out door bathrooms and some cool Prairie Dog towns down the road.

Ingrid W — Google review

So Beautiful. Such a well maintained state park. The visitor center was really informative and I was able to take my dogs on the trails.

Valerie G — Google review

Excellent park that gives a good history of this most famous leader. The park staff are wonderful and know a lot about Chief Plenty Coups. It's a bit of a drive, but worth it. Respect the Locals and their culture and the place they call home.

Sam V — Google review

I am so angry! There was no one on duty that I could see and the note on the door of the visitor centre said that the centre was closed (pity as I believe it’s very good) but the house was open - which I think strange and very risky. The house was not cared for - it was filthy - flies not having been swept up, obviously for weeks.(I didn’t take photographs because I’m not sure the tribe would have wanted it) There was rubbish outside and the fact that it was open and unguarded made me particularly cross - no respect at all for the man who built it. Another visitor came in after me and wasn’t monitored either - there was simply no one there!I was accompanied by an absolutely charming dog - who lay on the verandah outside whilst I went round the house. He deserves to go on the payroll! The old leather chair in the chiefs rather wonderfully decorated room upstairs, and so beautifully photographed, on the website, was covered in a think layer of dust. It just felt disrespectful to the memory of a great man. It’s a beautiful location and I found the house very moving. I’m just so sad that it isn’t better protected. Surely there must be members of the Crow tribe who would act as guardians when it’s open?If it can’t be monitored there should be a note that the whole place is closed - to protect it.

Wonderful place that is off the beaten path. Absolutely delightful people working there. They really know the history and love the place. You can tell. This location gets a lot to support it from sales so please purchase something to support such a historical site

It was our first time here and it was truly an emotional experience. So much history to read and the photo books to look through were amazing!! Def recommend!

This state park is amazing, especially if you are interested in history. The museum is very well done, is very comprehensive, and you are able to access all of it. The annual day of honor and remembrance was fascinating and humbling. Definitely worth a visit!!

So good! Every bit as good-maybe better- as a high end steak house for reasonable prices and a casual, family friendly atmosphere. Worth the drive for sure! Real mashed potatoes, and a chef who understands what “rare” means. I had the carrot cake for dessert-homemade and it tasted like it. Can’t wait to come back!

Jessica B — Google review

What an incredible find! The service and food here could exceed even the best in Billings or the whole state. Make sure you make a reservation because it's not a hidden gem even though it's off the beaten path. The menu is large and highlights local beef. The prawn additions are epic. The only dig one might have would be the mediocre dinner salad or odd combination of high top and regular tables. Those are overcome once you're full and unable to push back from the table.

Tim T — Google review

Don't let the outside fool you! Awesome good, big servings, come hungry! Excellent service, highly recommend the trip. Had the firecracker shrimp it was excellent, along with prime rib, and some giant prawns! Overall just an awesome small town place that once you go, you will keep going back.

Todd W — Google review

We shared a 20 oz rib eye and was it ever good! Too big but cooked to perfection. Crisp green salad, loaf of bread and fresh green beans. On top of that, the servers were funny and delightful. It’s not close to anything but worth the drive. Others must agree because the restaurant was jammed! A definite 10!

Gail C — Google review

Toughest sirloin and NY Strip ever! Very disappointing. We ordered the New York strip and the sirloin with both steaks cooked medium rare, but they were so tough it was difficult to cut. Little seasoning and didn't appear marinated. We were starving and felt if we sent it back we would be waiting a long time for the replacement. Since both steaks were tough as nails I doubt a new one would have been any better, but we didn't want to wait. The Oswald family farm has some tough grass that's been fed to their cows. Bring a very sharp knife and possibly a spoon because I don't believe there was one in the restaurant.

David L — Google review

One of the best meals I've had in a long time!! I got the "Steak Fingers" which is steak that's lightly battered and fried! It was amazing!! It first tastes like fried chicken, but then the steak deliciousness hits and is something else! Tasted better without putting sauce on! Thank you chef, yummm.

Matt F — Google review

The steak was over cooked. The 7 dollar a piece shrimp were extremely chewy/overdone. You can get a much better meal and cooked correctly at home. The service was good which is why I gave 2 stars. Maybe they have a new cook?

Stacy G — Google review

Absolutely delicious food! The shrimp & steak is incredible! Our waiter Christian was so fun, witty & kind! He made the experience super enjoyable! Definitely will be back. ☺

Had my wife's surprise bday lunch here with 11 of us attending. Waitress was awesome! Food was amazing! Made my wife cry when she walked in, thinking we were having a quiet lunch for 2 and everyone yelled "surprise!"The staff is very polite, helpful...did I mention the great food!

William P — Google review

Everything is excellent!!! I can't say enough good things about this bar. Delicious!

Erica P — Google review

Great food. I love small townhopping for new places to eat. Short drive from Billings freindly staff!

Tim K — Google review

Out in the middle of seemingly nowhere this place is amazing and worth the drive. If you hear great things about this place believe the hype! Great food, service, and atmosphere. Do not let the old rustic brick building outside deter you! Loved it and hope to go back! (The shrimp pawns are huge along with the portions!)

Jeb F — Google review

I would have never stopped here on my own because it looks like a simple drive bar, but local friends brought us for dinner. Dinner was simply outstanding! We had Shelby and her infectious smile taking care of a table of almost 20 and she managed everything without a hitch while still taking care of other tables. The steaks were phenomenal and despite thinking I would take home leftovers I ate the entire 30 oz porterhouse while my wife did serious damage to the baseball cut sirloin with crab. She did say she liked mine better though. You can't go wrong even with a 30 minutes drive to the bar like we had.

Karl L — Google review

Outstanding evening eating and laughing. Incredible service and the food was out of this world. I honestly can say the Fircracker Burger maybe my top 3 favorite burgers ever! And the tots...so garlic and delicious. Can't wait to go back. A++++++

Mikel W — Google review

A little gem just off the beaten path and worth the jhont, bartender/server was very attentive and pleasant, food was amazing 👏 family friendly area and a nice cozy bar. Definitely worth it!

Nancie N — Google review

I've gone to this bar for take-out food and prior to my last visit, I had AWESOME food. My last visit on 2/17/2023 was unimpressive. The tater tots were burnt, my chicken fried steak was burnt, the meatballs on the spaghetti were burnt...I spent $141 for primarily burnt food. I've found other restaurants with amazing food that is cooked to perfection and a lot less cost. I will say on a positive note, the service was great!

Pat F — Google review

The food here is baller! Steaks are excellent, sandwiches are great, and everything else is solid. Nice seasonal co*cktail menu as well. Have been a couple times now and it's worth the trip from Billings if you want a great steak dinner. Waitresses are very knowledgeable and can handle customers who've experienced the inevitable long wait unless you've made a reservation. Don't expect fancy steakhouse atmosphere tho, very small dining hall, non-existent waiting area.

Nature & Parks

Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, is home to a diverse array of wildlife that includes over 300 species of birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals. Visitors can observe animals such as bald eagles, bison, moose, black bears, lynx, mountain lions, coyotes and more up close. The sanctuary provides a safe haven for injured or ill animals that cannot be released into the wild.

This Sanctuary was one of the coolest places my husband and I visited while traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday. The animals are obviously very happy and very well cared for. Despite the time of year, we saw many active animals and got some great pictures! The staff obviously love what they do and were so kind and friendly as well. We will definitely pay a visit again in the future!

Kristina D — Google review

I'm not sure if we came on a bad day or off season, but a lot of the things we were looking forward to seeing were closed. With a big name like Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary, I was expecting a bit more. Cages were small, and several animals were showing repetitive behaviors/stress. The acreage there for the number of animals is just off.. It made me feel like it belonged an episode of the Tiger King, and I left feeling sad/dissatisfied instead of educated. I understand they are doing a necessary thing and likely have limited funding which is why I left three stars, but as someone who has visited these types of places across the country I can't recommend this one.

Marisa B — Google review

YWS is a fantastic place that has an admirable mission. Good people doing great things for in-need animals.

Nanci M — Google review

Very nice that they’re trying to care for these animals but not a great place to visit. Pretty expensive admission fee for what it is. They keep the animals in enclosures that are too small for their size and activity level… not the best. Overall, disappointing.

Alexandra U — Google review

Very small but quaint nature center. Has a cute gift shop. Clean restrooms. And plenty of dirt parking. Note you have to wear your mask inside and out on the trail the whole time.

Highly recommend the private tour! 5 starsThe staff were able to accommodate our family group of 9 the week after Christmas, even with last minute changes due to our icy roads. Our guide, Jess, was terrific - knowledgeable, passionate, and infinitely patient with all of our questions. It was evident how committed all of the staff are - truly looking forward to another visit during warmer weather to see more of their residents.

Heather N — Google review

We did a private tour this month (Jan) since they are closed for the winter. It was super affordable and so educational! We had a tour guide the entire time and spent time getting to know each animals story, and how they fit into the Yellowstone ecosystem. These animals all have a story of why they cannot be released back into the wild and they are so well cared for at this sanctuary. I highly recommend a winter tour if you are in Red Lodge!

Ashley G — Google review

Im happy to be able to support a place with such a fantastic conservation and education mission. What a wonderful representation of animals in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Savannah K — Google review

Passing thought to cook city. Decided to check this place out. It's on the smaller side. Everyone was friendly and kind. We got to hear a red tailed hawk squak, a raccon noise, and a bobcat noise.

Kristen S — Google review

We happened to be in the raptor area when the keeper came out to feed them, and she was so kind and knowledgeable and she told us about each bird as she fed them. It was so much fun. I will definitely be returning to see all the animals again!

Jessica L — Google review

We highly recommend doing the private tour. Our guide Savannah was very knowledgeable, shared the stories of each of the animals we saw, explained the ecosystems and their importance. It was very obvious that she loved the animals and took great pride in the mission of the sanctuary. Thank you for providing a way for these amazing creatures to live out their lives safely and for a wonderful experience!

Marge C — Google review

I have had a few visits to the sanctuary and every time I go I learn so much! The employees are so knowledgeable and kind. You can tell they truly care about the well being of the animals. It is a great gem within the community and a must visit for all who visit red lodge.

I visited here with my twin & her husband Denny Neville, who was teaching a painting class on 8.19.While they were getting the class ready, sis & I perused the stunning artwork, beautiful jewelry, gorgeous colorful silk scarves, and apparel that was for sale. The Manager was friendly & professional.Recommend visiting just to see the Art work alone!!

This non-profit gallery is my favorite gallery anywhere. They always have a large selection of western mountain art from their artist members. Oils, acrylics, watercolors, photographs, sculptures and even motion sculptures; most at very reasonable prices. They also have educational programs for both adults and children. They have more art than they can display, so some art is stored in closets. If you like watercolor mountain landscapes, be sure to ask what Mary Blain pieces they have.We are from Minnesota, but my wife and I try to visit this gallery every time we're in MT.

Fishing Charters & Tours

My dad and I have been visiting Stillwater Anglers for 8 years as we camp and fish the area every summer. The staff in the store is always friendly, and helpful. No matter your experience as a fly fisher, you never feel judged. We have become better fly fishermen by visiting this shop each year. We have also taken two separate float trips on the Stillwater River and have always had an outstanding experience. Chris and his guides are the most professional, and accommodating. We have always been put on many great fish, and learned a great deal about the water, fish, and our technique. If ever in this area, you must stop at Stillwater Anglers, they are the best around!

Jeremy D — Google review

Chris was responsive to e-mails in advance of our arrival. And we had the best time on our 1/2 day guided trip with Kirk. He and the ladies in the shop took care of everything. We had never been fly fishing before and between the two of us we caught plenty of fish and learned a lot. Thank you! We'll be back.

Kelli B — Google review

Our guided trip was unforgettable, their guides are extremely professional and friendly, can't wait to float with them again!

David F — Google review

Really nice time on the water with Nick Homewood, booked through Stillwater Anglers. Nick guided us down the Yellowstone where we caught 4 different species of fish and fished multiple techniques and a variety of water speeds, edges and depths. Not a dull moment, and a full day of great action and memories on the mighty Yellowstone. Thanks Nick!

Marcellus P — Google review

Just recently, I was given the wonderful opportunity to work with Chris on a DeYoung project that he had inquired about. It was an absolute pleasure to work with a client that was both polite, professional and quick to respond. I have not yet had the opportunity to stop into their location, however if my recent interaction is any reflection of the team over at Stillwater Anglers, I would bet that any one who stops by would be met with a friendly greeting, knowledgeable staff, and leave with a place they would be happy to return to on their next trip.

Cassie M — Google review

Stillwater Anglers is my go-to shop when fishing the ‘Stone and Stillwater Rivers. Chris and his staff know the in’s and out’s about the local waters and their knowledge will put you onto the fish. He brings in area experts for his casting classes and women-only fishing clinics, and the results are top-notch.A day of floating with Chris on the Yellowstone in August was rewarding, despite challenging conditions. Not only was the scenery spectacular, Chris was very patient and created a comfortable environment for the beginner angler. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely choose to guide with him again.

Ann G — Google review

Chris at Stillwater Anglers put together an excellent, very personalized, multiday/multi-river guided fly fishing trip for my wife & I that greatly exceeded our expectations. Under Chris’ expert tutelage, we floated and/or waded on the Stillwater, Bighorn, Yellowstone, Madison, and Missouri rivers, along with the spring creek in Paradise Valley (Chris hired an additional expert guide for Paradise Valley); catching and releasing Rainbows, Browns, and Cutthroat/Rainbow hybrids.Chris took care of most gear, lodging, guiding, and meal arrangements. We were responsible for some meals, airfare, and our rental car. There were no hidden fees.We look forward to doing a similar trip with Chris next year.

Gary P — Google review

I'm a local and wanted to do something special for my husband for our 10th anniversary. We both enjoy fly fishing, but we're novices and have young children, so we rarely take the opportunity to get out on the water. I talked with Chris about the idea of having a special celebration with my husband on a guided fly fishing trip. He made it happen, going above and beyond to make it special -- even catering to our dietary preferences for lunch (including grilling marinated chicken breasts streamside!). We had a fantastic day on the Stillwater River visiting, celebrating, relaxing, and fishing under the sun -- and Chris made sure we landed some fish, too! Thanks so much -- we ought to make this an annual commitment!

Jessica D — Google review

I had a great time fishing with Chris and Craig. They were so nice and I had a lot of fun. They really know their stuff. Would definitely go again.

Red Lodge Mountain

Ski resort

Nature & Parks

Restaurant

Ski rental service

Family-friendly locale for skiing & snowboarding, with 65 trails & slopes, plus kids' programs.

5 stars for best snow in the lower 48, and for Travel Trailer and RV parking at the mountain lower lot...free just look for the "camping between signs" row on the side of the lot. Cleanest ski hill porto potties so far after 3 states and 5 resorts. If I were picky I'd Take off a star for the main lodge lifts being slow fixies and for holding Palisades chair from opening Until a holiday weekend on a Saturday even though...it was probably ready after it snowed last week...but at least this year the lifts seem to be spinning without breaking! ...don't go to Big Sky.

Mark L — Google review

Very under-the-radar hill with a local feel, yet still skis like a major western resort. The cafeteria should be avoided at all costs, but the rest of the experience was amazing.

Andrew B — Google review

Super pricey for adult lift tickets. Even if you purchase in advance online. Rentals are reasonable. I struggled with faulty gear on my last visit. I didn't realize that my bindings were loose until we were on top of the mountain. The staff were friendly and quick to assist. The snow is great usually. My daughter and I love the long runs. We are both amateur snowboarders and are on the same skill level, so those long rides are essential for solid experience. Safe learning environment. It tends to be crowded on the weekends, but the lines for the lifts are short.

Jesse B — Google review

Learning area is very small compared to others in MT. Boys enjoyed it nonetheless.I prefer Bridger Bowl. Cheaper, more runs already open, more/better snow, more mountain to explore. Did I mention cheaper!?

Sean C — Google review

Absolutely love this place, from incredible terrain to wonderful friendly staff, truly unbeatable.

Handsome B — Google review

We love this place! The prices are reasonable, so it makes it a great family destination . The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and very welcoming. We like to ski for 2-3 days every time we go. We are a family of four with a 7yo and 4yo.

Stephanie M — Google review

Red Lodge Mountain is a great place to ski & snowboard. I've been going there for years. This trip was a little rough due to the snow conditions and weather, but I still had a blast. If they replace that slow triple chair with a high speed quad, I'd give them 5 stars!

Casey J — Google review

Spent three days here in the spring. I had a great time. Triple chair needs to be upgraded to a high speed, but the rest of the mountain is quiet. Palisades and Cole Creek are awesome!

Luke J — Google review

Great trail to hike- saw lots of others and NO wild animals.

Tammy O — Google review

Fun spot to hit, snow cover tends to be thin but has some cool terrain if it's not skiied out and/or sun-baked. Pretty low-key and laid back; while other mountains have gotten big and are turning into full blown resorts, this one still has the old school ski mountain vibe. And still cheaper than most places these days. The central lift could really use an upgrade to something high-speed, though; that's my only real gripe. Plenty here to enjoy and explore.

Devon W — Google review

Had a good time for the first time in years, though snow was low, it was still exciting. HOWEVER,NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY 94$ to eat their food in the cold because you guys sell $15 cheese burgers.I can say because of that alone and just how much it’s raised and how little accommodations you have now I DEFINITELY won’t be back. There’s other places in Montana for cheaper and better accommodation. Hopefully you take this to heart and try to fix your system.

Michael B — Google review

I’ve been to 4 mountains in Montana and 2 in utah and wyoming… Never have I ever seen a mountain maintained so badly. all the park workers and rental workers are super rude and the customer service is literally non existent at this mountain. took my friends for the first time and the rental guy was getting pissed because we were renting and he wanted me to buy the $70 lift ticket before renting to give him “less work” When we only planned on hitting the magic carpet. I really hope something can be done because most of the employees on this mountain look like they don’t wanna be here themselves so maybe they shouldn’t be because there ruining peoples experiences… it embarrasses me that’s this is the treatment beginner riders get on your slope

Logan D — Google review

We had an awesome few days here. Great snow, great lifts and top notch staff. The chalet food was actually good as well. Hope to be back again next season.

Steve A — Google review

Great place to ski with the family. We recently spent a spring break here as a family and couldn’t be happier. Here’s what we liked: 1. Reasonable prices on lift tickets and lessons. 2. Plenty of terrain for everyone - I liked the long blue groomers that make your quads burn like Lazy M or Palisades. My kids liked Miami Beach and the greens around the lodge. And there’s plenty of more advanced terrain if that’s what you’re looking for. 3. No lift lines - we skied all week and probably spent a total of 10 minutes in-line between the four of us. 4. Spectacular scenery - if you’re looking for Mountain View’s Red Lodge does not disappoint. 5. Super chill vibe - all the skiing, none of the pretense.

Quincy L — Google review

On December 2nd I witnessed a gross breakdown of class, character, communication and transparency on Red Lodge Mountain. It was our first day of the season and what should be a great first day up on the local hill was anything but. We went to get my Girlfriend her new pass for the season. As has been the case for years you receive a new pass at the beginning of the season. We thought nothing of the fact that we could not find last years pass and went to the ticket counter where we were informed that it was a $20 fee to reprint a pass. The woman who spoke to us was curt and when we asked for clarification was quick to call her supervisor, Denise. As we were standing outside waiting on Denise to make it over to the side door of the ticket counter, I overheard the first woman complain to Denise that this "girl over here is complaining about spending $20". The tone and the interaction indicated to me that your staff cares less about being professional and remembering that they are in customer service and are in fact more interested in being rude and petty.Denise deployed what can best be described as her best fake nice expression and told us we must pay the $20 for a reprint even though no new pass had been issued for the season. This was explained to be a "greener" option yet you print lost passes on the same plastic for $5. Someone could come everyday reprinting for $5 and have dozens of plastic cards made. We were told that it says emphatically that you must reuse your pass from previous seasons yet no such writing was presented or shown to be the case. We then asked to speak to her manager or someone else and we were told that a "Jeff" was in charge but he wouldn't want to talk to us, was too busy and had left for the day around 1PM. We were given a card we were told was his without any of his information and was in fact just a general card for the mountain. She lied to us telling us that she had given us your card with your information but gave us a blank card and would not tell us your full name. She then said we could send her an email and she would pass it along. Denise was rude, her repeated dismissal of our issue and her attempt to give us the runaround and no information, yet claim she had, was incredibly poor service. Denise pulled out the one sheeter with your policies on it and lo and behold the "it says right here you have to keep your pass for each season" never materialized and unless it has been amended does not exist. At this point I started recording her because of how rude she was being and I have her on video admit to and apologize for being rude. We eventually got her to bring us to your brand new guest services manager Taylor ( I believe that was his name). We shared the same story with him and he shared that he had to pay the same fee when his wife lost her pass. Again he reinforced that this was something that was known and was in the agreement that is signed for your season pass. When we asked him to show that to us he had to admit that it does not say that in the printed rules or agreement. He was very nice and printed, for the first time this season, her pass.We are lifelong Montanans. This is not how customer service should work in the small town of Red Lodge at our local mountain. I understand that Customer Service takes a cool head and skill. The mountain was not busy that day, you haven't been busy at all this season so your pass holders are even more important when the snow isn't dumping. To see this person be your front facing staff leader interacting with your guests is appalling. As we stated multiple times this isn't an issue with spending $20, this is about your poorly written policy and your attempts to enforce it. Simply, Denise never apologized for her behavior and she put Taylor in a bad situation trying to fix it.I would encourage you to cull the attitudes festering in your customer service before they spread to the rest of your team. This was emailed to HR Manager and Manager Jeff Schmidt who did not reply.

Steve O — Google review

Great ski area! I will say that I have skied a lot of places and in some cases I felt like their trail rating was a little off. The biggest improvement red lodge could do is better marking the terrain. More signage for trails and letting people know we're the moguls are it.I don't personally like to ski moguls and with my wife learning it's hard to know what trails to take that don't have them. The barriers trail was a nightmare for her. That would be the biggest improvement for the mountain that I saw.As for the cafeteria, it's not bad. The food was decent, but the price was a little steep I felt. The chili cheese fries are certainly the bomb!Ready to ski again today!

River Rafting & Tubing

The customer service here is amazing! I had booked a group of 8 people for a rafting trip and due to snowy weather had to cancel. It was so easy to change our plans with them and they were super understanding. Although we didn’t get to venture with this company, the experience of working with them was impressive enough to gain them a 5 star review. Keep it up, guys!

Tyler R — Google review

Our guide Dave was great. His knowledge of the river was solid, he knew answers to all the wildlife questions we had, and he conversed well with our entire group including the children. Showing us a great place to cliff jump was the icing on the cake!

Joe C — Google review

Came to Montana to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and rafting on the Stillwater was a definite highlight! It was an afternoon full of laugh-out-loud thrills while paddling through the big waves, as well as peaceful breaks of cruising down the river to spot a fox running by and a big, beautiful bald eagle perched in a tree. The river was swift, the guides were great, and we felt entirely safe. Wouldn't hesitate to come back and do it all over again!

Every time my family and I have gone rafting with this crew they have been truly a blast to go on a whitewater rafting adventure with! They are so much fun and very easy to work with. This time our guides were Chloe and Grayson. Both of them were wonderful and made the experience a truly memorable one. I would also like to give a shout out to the owner Marek. He has always been great to work with and makes sure everyone has fun. My Dad scheduled the trip with Anna. She was very quick to return his calls and also easy to work with. If you want to go whitewater rafting with a great crew and have a wonderful experience, I absolutely recommend this group!

Adam B — Google review

Our first time whitewater rafting and it just made us eager to go again! Our guide was outstanding - not only in his knowledge of the river, but in his willingness to answer every question we posed to him. An absolute highlight of our stay in Red Lodge.

Emily C — Google review

What an awesome way to experience some beautiful country! Celebrated our little guy turning 12 with his first time white water rafting and what a great memory. Our guide Roy was a boss. We had a blast and will definitely be returning for round 2

Mary G — Google review

Great staff! They were extremely helpful and very fun. The river was a little low due to the time of year we visited but our guide Brendan made sure we all still had a great time and hit every point in the river we could. Highly recommend and they have a great deal with Paintbrush Adventures if your interested in a saddle to paddle day!

Samantha K — Google review

Our family group consisted of 3 generations, ages 3 to 61. Grayson was our guide for the trip. The check-in was seamless and professional, the owner was onsite and made everyone feel safe and welcome. It’s a small company with a family feel, and all the guides were great to visit with. Once on the water Grayson was awesome. It was a chilly morning in the mid to upper 50’s and overcast, he kept us as dry as possible for the first half of the trip, until the temperature came up and the sun came out. He was very knowledgeable about the river and the wildlife that inhabits the area. We highly recommend this company and will be back for future trips with them. Mike K.

We had a great time rafting the Stillwater with Grayson as our guide. He was informative and made the trip adventurous for young and old alike. There was no doubt he enjoys his job. Don’t miss this opportunity!!! Thank you from Iowa!!!!

Jody B — Google review

We went on the river today as a “Mini Honeymoon Trip” & let me tell you it was fantastic! The weather was beautiful, the water was nice, & our Guide Grayson did an awesome job! He did not disappoint, I ended up taking a spill into the drink & couldn’t have been more happy😃. I will forever have “Lean In” stuck in my head! Thank You Adventure White Water, see ya next summer!

Vanessa G — Google review

We had a great time!!! I brought a friend that had never been rafting and now we’re planning our trip for next year! Our guide, Chloe, was fantastic!! She really made the trip special. I’ve been rafting for decades and she really has a great knowledge of the river, the wildlife and how to care for and entertain her customers. Highly recommended!

Betsy B — Google review

My entire family and I (14 total) had the greatest time rafting with this crew! They we so accommodating but also so much fun! Can’t wait to go again! Highly recommend!

We took a large group of people, ranging in age from 5-77 years old. It was a blast. Great guides, knowledgeable and experienced. We will be back!

Melissa G — Google review

Our group of 10 had an amazing experience. With 5 in each group and guides, Marissa and Dave, we floated down the river and rode the rapids perfectly! Our 4 grands, ages 5-10, had a wonderful time. It was a great afternoon. If given the opportunity...jump from the cliff! Thanks so much.

Rene Y — Google review

Adventure Whitewater got our family of 6 in last minute and we are so glad we did it! So much fun and great for first timers and families. Our guide, Grayson was so great and made those of who were nervous very comfortable. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all the wildlife (and the area in general). He was great at giving instructions and thinking on his feet. Awesome experience!

Tippet Rise Art Center offers a unique experience of art and hiking in the picturesque landscape of Montana. Visitors can explore impressive outdoor art installations set against the backdrop of mountains and rolling hills, creating a truly inspiring atmosphere. The center's van tours are popular and booking in advance is recommended to fully enjoy the experience.

This is the third time I have been to Tippet Rise. It won't be the last time. I love this place and all it offers. Art, air and plenty of sunshine! I understand why the van tours book so quickly, I just wish they didn't. This is not a spur of the moment type of place to visit. I wish I could have taken my 80 YO parents there when they decided to visit from Canada last month - out of the blue- but ... There was no chance of that. Plan ahead and enjoy every minute of the experience!

Mema — Google review

Please visit the website and try to get a feel of the volume of art, hiking trails and music venues you can enjoy on this working ranch, via ticket lottery. I tried for three years to get tickets for a music venue and it was well worth the wait. Hiking and biking tickets are easier if you are on the website the day ticket distribution opens. Luckily, there is no overcrowding. The volunteers point you in the right direction and it is easy to figure out. Be prepared if you are hiking or biking. We were rained out and didn’t make it to all of the art venues but enjoyed what we saw. I couldn’t believe they had a sculpture by Ai Wei Wei. I’ve followed his life for years. And, an Alexander Calder sculpture you can see when you crest the hill driving toward the venue. Wow. Thank you to the owners. They brought something very special together at Tippet Rise in Fishtail, MT and put it out there for many to enjoy during the summer months. I wonder what the cows think?

Darla S — Google review

Beautiful experience doing the sculpture van tour. They were very accommodating for my 89 year old grandma who was ecstatic to go on this tour again! A truly unique experience put on by amazing guides and staff. Thank you Tippet Rise for an unforgettable memory.

Teresa M — Google review

Such a cool place to see. Having been to Storm King (which this was largely modeled after), the sheer scale of Tippet Rise is unmatched. It’s truly a destination worth touring. I wasn’t able to see a concert but I’m hoping to be able to go back some other time.

Ross S — Google review

Incredible experience from start to finish. The staff is friendly and personable and they are all so knowledgeable about the property and artwork. I have visited twice now and always look forward to returning! All sculpture tours, concert experiences, and even dining have been different and enjoyable each time I have been back to Tippet Rise. If you are fortunate enough to get to visit, you won’t be disappointed!

Kelly L — Google review

This unique experience of art and hiking is simply fabulous. Find creative and impressive outdoor art lingering between the massive mountains of Montana's endless skies and green, rolling hills. The atmosphere is fantastic and the art totally inspiring. We will be back!!

Sarah F — Google review

We didn't expect so many prairie dogs in here!Cute little spot to picnic with prairie dogs.

Faye G — Google review

Saw a couple of prairie dogs off in the distance. Easy to drive up and park. Self pay non-resident State Park fee of $8.00. Not sure if there is a restroom or picnic area, but it’s next to a busy highway so maybe not the greatest place to enjoy lunch.

smslanza — Google review

Easy to access right off I-90. Prairie dogs everywhere popping out of their holes barking at you! Super easy to see them in this little easy to get to roadside stop!

Mike B — Google review

No really sure what we expected, but I guess it was a little more than we got. We did see a lot of Prarie dogs as we drove in our car, but we weren't sure if getting out and walking around was allowed or not and there was a lack of signage. Cute little critter though.

Katie W — Google review

it is indeed, as the name suggests, a land of prairie dogs. is there a bunch of roads or trails to explore? nope. there's not but a simple turnabout. is it worth it anyway? yes. i mean it's a state park dedicated to prairie dogs. 100% recommend. no bathrooms but a nice rest area is only a few minutes down the highway!

CarlyKpdx — Google review

Don’t expect any buildings - just open fields. But there were prairie dogs EVERYWHERE and it was fantastic 😍

Christina W — Google review

These little ones are so cute, they keep alerting the others while we are walking near their territory, it is so nice that someone gave them a place like this♥️they are so cute standing up and some of them are stoutly lovely 🥰

Pinky K — Google review

These little guys are so cute! I love that this whole area is theirs. Just a peaceful spot off the road.

Cyndie C — Google review

This is a fun place to stop and stretch your legs while watching some adorable prairie dogs. I love hearing their little squeaks! :)

Jen U — Google review

It's exactly what the name says - a prairie dog town. If you want to watch a prairie dogs and learn about how they live, this is the place to do both. It is located just off of the highway - look for the information kiosk near the entrance. As you drive into the park, watch for prairie dogs crossing the driveway to get back to their dens. If you roll down your windows you will likely hear them barking a warning to one another. I recommend parking and then quietly walking the circular portion of the driveway. There are informational signs, benches where you can sit and observe, and a picnic table if you need. Note: there are no restrooms at this location. Please do not feed the prairie dogs.

Ryan R — Google review

Very small patch of ground next to the highway saw 1 Prairie dog although there are at least a dozen holes was not worth the eight dollars for the entry feeWe did see a yucca plant though

Great local museum. The volunteers there knew everything and were happy to answer questions. They had a scavenger hunt for the kids and lots of cool artifacts. They were also happy to unlock and take us on a tour of the old historic buildings on the grounds.

Closed for the season after Labor Day. Still, plenty to see on the outside including the captions. Of course, Lewis and Clark passed by here.

Bruce K — Google review

Although this gem is closed for the winter, we dropped by to walk the interesting grounds. Some volunteers were working inside, saw us, and let us have a private tour. Talk about small town hospitality!!!This little museum has treasures we have never seen in other museums. In our short visit, we learned local facts, viewed eclectic displays, and shopped their most unique gift shop. What an unexpected delight this adventure was. Such kind and dedicated people taking care of this area's history! Thank you ever so much!!!

This museum was great! Awesome history and lots to see. The best part was our guide, though; she was so friendly and knowledgeable and gave us a great tour! She made our stop worth it 💯

Jamie B — Google review

We recently decided to take a vacation in Montana. When we got to the cabin we rented it seemed that one of the best place to visit was here and it was right. A lot of people said that they enjoyed the experience and we can only add to the positive comments. Not only do they give you a fun experience, but they also show you all the other things you can do around the area while you are here. I say if you are looking for fun things to do while you're here this is definitely something you should do on your trip. 5 Stars

Jeremiah A — Google review

100% worth the stop! The museum has scavenger hunts for the littles to keep them engaged. The workers were so kind and accommodating. Make sure to visit the outside areas with the schoolhouse and homestead.

Lacie M — Google review

One of the best museums I’ve visited in a while. Welcoming, knowledgeable, and passionate volunteers. What a treasure of history and great way to preserve moments in the past. Recommend the stop!

Jennifer S — Google review

What a fantastic museum of artifacts covering literally thousands of years of local history. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, too. You can spend a whole day and not see everything that’s interesting. Don’t miss it.

Mary — Google review

Beautiful little museum full of interesting artifacts from the Paleolithic Era to modern mining. Well worth the stop off of the interstate for a break from the road! The staff is friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Most have lived in the area and have hand knowledge of the life represented in the museum!

The history and the scenery is well worth the travel to get to the Natural Bridge. There is a choice to stay at the top to the overlook where once was the Natural Bridge or have a picnic or head on the trail. Once on the trail, there is a choice which trail to take. The trail to your left at the fork has a switchback to take to get at the bottom to the water way.Once down near the edge of the water coming out of the rocks, you can see light coming from the other side. Be careful walking this trail because it would be easy falling down the switchback which is narrow, dirt/rocky and steep. The rocks at the water edge are a challenge also.Enjoy!

Marlyn F — Google review

So glad I took the short drive up from Big Timber to experience the beauty of this area! Stunning views of the falls even from the footbridge and paved path! Not packed like so many of the National Parks this time of year. Truly magical and worth seeing.

smslanza — Google review

Beautiful and not difficult walk around the water and to the edge to see the falls. Is different in each season. If you are adventurous, try the trail down to see the falls area. Great area for a picnic lunch.

Doug K — Google review

Short hike, great views. Tricky to get to the bottom of the gorge. Switchbacks, steep, and slippery at places. Well worth the hike!!

Chef G — Google review

The falls are 25 miles from the nearest town but well worth the trip. The drive down is very senic. You will cross the Bolder river several. Once you reach the falls, it's only a short hike to a spectacular view. The hike down to the bottom is a little tricky, be careful, but will give you the best view.

Larry A — Google review

Just 2 hours away from Billings it's a nice day trip to see the beautiful falls. Clean restrooms and nice trails for both handicap or rugged hickers. Make sure you pack a lunch to enjoy the day.

Jody H — Google review

Worth the drive out to it.. very beautiful area and the paths to the overlooks are very accessible. Highly recommend this gem

Michael K — Google review

My family likes visiting thos state park because it has hiking options for a variety of skill levels and physical needs. One side of the river has a paved walkway with multiple picnic areas for those who need handicap accessibility. The other side has easy, albeit steep, hikes to the base of the falls or several overlooks.

Tiffini G — Google review

It was a great day trip with my daughter and my friend and I would definitely go back. As a professional photographer, I was lucky enough to get a very cloudy day so I got some magnificent creamy water shots and dramatic skies (attached a cell snap). The walk is lovely, though a little challenging to anyone with mobility issues or physical limitations in a few spots. What a gem!

Ts G — Google review

This was a really nice day trip. We took picnic items and enjoyed lunch at one of the picnic tables. Pet friendly walk. There are stairs to the lookouts, so not 100% wheelchair friendly. Not a super long walk to do the upper walkway and a more challenging hike to do the lower unpaved walkway. The pictures tell how beautiful it is without me saying so. Definitely something I will come back to with better hiking shoes for the lower walk and would enjoy bringing friends to see.

Jen M — Google review

Absolutely beautiful place to go on a picnic and small hike. The water fall is stunning in all ways. It was so fun learning about the bridge.

Kristen S — Google review

We visited the Falls Picnic area yesterday. The weather was beautiful! We were recommended to visit here by a friend and we are so happy we took the drive here. It was so amazing! I wish we would have brought a picnic lunch!

Lots of activities for the kids. Swings, slides, obstacle course, monkey bars, and lots more. If you are going for a walk there is a trail as well. Beautiful views. You can also ride your bike or just walk your dog. We visited here every day while visiting family. My son never gets tired of the playground.

Nice park. Clean grounds. On the river. Picnic area with a gazebo as well. The Band shell is there where all kinds of artists perform. The Farmers Market is hosted there annually as well. We have had birthday parties there......rocks are abundant, so good for hounding, and the ducks are a riot!

Enjoyed this park from one end to the other end. Nice walk along the Yellowstone River, the ponds have ducks and geese to watch, playfields with games going on, and a realistic statue of Sacagawea and child on a horse. With fall colors coming on this place was amazing.

Cool railroad museum. Get a quick history lesson when you arrive. If I remember it was $5 for adults. The crazy thing is in the winter they pack up all the exhibits and turn it into a convention center. Active trains still go by. Restrooms and a small gift shop. Parking lot with 2 hour parking.

The history museum Yellowstone Gateway Museum in Bozeman, MT is packed with artifacts, information, and interactive kids activities that keep adults entertained as well! The permanent and temporary exhibits include a huge dinosaur display, an awesome theater with multiple informative 30 minute movies, and a great Gengis Kahn display. The museum is also home to a wonderful Moon Landing Apollo show.

Not sure why this took us so long to discover! The museum is packed w/ great artifacts, info and an interactive kids activity in every exhibit room so adults actually get time to take in the museum too! Only had 15 minutes there before it closed the day I went, regardless I had a ton of fun learning about the railroad history. The person there at the time was really understanding and nice. Tons of interesting old machinery to learn about and lots of interesting railroad items outside. I hope that next time I go up to washington state I can pass by again.

Angler’s West Fly Fishing Outfitters offers family-friendly fly-fishing trips in Yellowstone for all skill levels. Their knowledgeable and engaging guides, like Nolan and Buddy, provide patient instruction to help you catch fish while creating unforgettable memories. They take you to remote spots within Yellowstone where you can enjoy the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife.

WOW, what a TERRIFIC 1st time experience! My wife and I had never gone fly fishing, no less float on the majestic Yellowstone River! Did we ever choose the *RIGHT* outfitter! We can't say enough about Angler's West and our guide, => TY GREEN <=. As you can see from the attached pictures, Ty made this trip fun, educational and we **GOT LOTS of FISH** (in mid-Sept 2022), all with PERFECT weather! From browns, to rainbows, and many others. In addition, Ty provided a hearty sandwich lunch with chips and even strawberries for a mid-day break in the action. These two days of .... floating and fishing, experiencing the beauty around us (including watching all the bald eagles and mountain scenery).......was exactly what the doctor ordered. Six of us just did a three day fly fishing trip through Anglers West. Two days floating down the Yellowstone (saw Kevin Costner filming on day 2), and one day on the Spring Creeks. Our guides were Dan, Jeremy, and Nolan. I can say without question it was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. These guys were phenomenal, kind, attentive, helpful. I went from generally capable of casting to being able to drop my flies where I wanted them to be every time. I cannot recommend Angler’s West highly enough. If you get the chance and pass it up, you’ll regret it. This was an absolutely awesome trip.

I'm glad to share our experience with this shop! We used their guide Dan M. for a float trip on the Yellowstone and also for a day trip into Yellowstone Park. We had some travel problems and Dan adjusted our start time which was really nice of him. Both trips were fantastic! Dan is an excellent guide. He definitely knows his stuff and was fun to be around. The shop was great too. We fished around locally on our own for a few days and everybody was fantastic to deal with. I did unfortunately break a rod but shop owner Matson R. gave me such a great price on a new one that I soon got over it. He went above and beyond on that and I really appreciate it. The advice was free flowing and the flies, gear, and services we purchased were exceptional. I can't wait to go back and I highly recommend them!

We had a fantastic trip with Hannah Bick on the Yellowstone. She is so knowledgeable about Montana, the river and most importantly, fly fishing. Not only did we land an amazing brown, my casting improved beyond measure.

Erin A — Google review

We had a fantastic day on the Yellowstone with Nolan. He's knowledgeable, patient, engaging and fun - and he LOVES to help people catch fish. That is what he did for us: we caught fish! (When most other boats were not, btw, and that was because of Nolan not us). Nolan gave just enough instruction to help but not too much to overwhelm. He knows alot about birds, insects, and Montana in general, which added alot of dimension to our day on the river. The scenery was spectacular (when I took my eye off that fly!), and we just loved our whole experience.Angler's West was top-notch from start to finish. We can't wait to come back!

Wendy S — Google review

Top-Notch first experience with a guide service. Nick and Rick were very accommodating. The shop had everything we needed. Huge thank you to Dan, for his knowledge and patience on the river. We didn't want it to end, top experience of our trip.

Highly recommend! We did a full-day fly fishing trip in Yellowstone with Ty. It was perfect. We caught beautiful fish, were surrounded by incredible scenery, and even saw a grizzly bear (from a safe distance in the car.) Ty is a great guide and teacher, and fun to spend the day with.

I didn’t want to wait to write a review for the day my wife and i had. We’re vacationing in Montana to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We decided to book a last minute fly fishing trip and Anglers West was able to make it happen. Our guide was Buddy, and i can’t say enough how awesome he was. This was our first time fly fishing, and his instruction had us ready in no time. We hiked to a remote spot within Yellowstone, and the very 1st cast i caught a beautiful cutthroat. We caught fish all day and had numerous doubles. Buddy was awesome to be around, very knowledgeable and made our trip one we will never forget.

Ryan F — Google review

Yesterday I fished Armstrongs Spring Creek with Nolan from Angler’s West. I had a wonderful day. Fishing was tricky because I was not used to fishing small flies on long, fine leaders. Nolan gave me some good pointers that paid off. I hooked a bunch of nice fish and landed a few. I’m definitely going back.

Zoos & Aquariums

Montana Grizzly Encounter is a wildlife rescue service that provides a safe haven for rescued grizzly bears. The sanctuary offers educational programs and up-close encounters with the bears, allowing visitors to learn about their personalities and behavior. The staff at Montana Grizzly Encounter are loving and committed to caring for the bears, who have a large natural space to play in the snow and live comfortably.

Woah! If you ever wondered what a grizzly looked like compared to a black bear, well … this is a great place to go see one up close! I love that this place also has a really nice instructor that teaches you everything you want to know about and how to identify and avoid these beautiful powerful creatures in the wild. Would definitely recommend to check out this place. The bears are always active and close up. They also had a few cute goats as well!

Watching Max was fun, and listening to the guide (who said he is relatively new, but did a GREAT job) was super informative. I came away feeling attached to Max and also better aware of what to do if I were to encounter a bear in the wild (hope that never happens). The location was gorgeous. The gift shop and admissions folks were very welcoming and kind. The ticket receipt serves as a pass that allows you to return two days in a row. Unique and positive experience. My kids loved it.

Amy P — Google review

Wonderful place to visit! Got to visit Max! Came here with my wife on our honeymoon! Bring boots as it is muddy! They have a great display area with information on bear attacks, and ways to keep yourself safe! They also have diagrams with info on the different physical features of black, brown and polar bears!

Alex R — Google review

Incredible grizzly bear encounter! The staff was friendly and informative, providing a fascinating history of the bears and answering all questions. The bears were beautiful, and I got some up-close shots as one came surprisingly close. There are 3 bears in total, at least when I went. They don't always get along with each other so they're brought out individually at different times lol. You won't miss anything, though. If one bear doesn't feel like coming out, there is always at least 1 willing and able to come out as long as snacks are provided for them in the enclosure.Ample parking and a charming gift shop add to the overall experience. A must-visit for wildlife enthusiasts!

Seth I — Google review

Our family loved seeing the bears play. The ticket is good for two days and you only get to see one bear at a time because they don’t get along. We got to see Max and Bella. There was always an employee outside with us giving information about the bear and how it was rescued. We were also able to ask questions. Everyone was very nice. It was a wonderful experience. Okay

Genesis S — Google review

Love that they are helping the Grizzly bears and educating humans. The bears are adorable, I mean I know - grizzlies - but they let them into the viewing area one at a time, to avoid confrontation and disputes. So, yeah, they're adorable. The one we had the opportunity to view was their youngest, but the largest. He was completely and thoroughly entertained by the 300+lb log he was playing with in the pond.🤎🐻🤎I also have to say that we bought the best souvenir ever. We were apprehensive about spending $30 on a thermal cup. But it's totally worth it. Our iced coffee kept ice cubes intact *overnight *!

Cyndie C — Google review

We used the reservation feature although not necessary. We arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday (nice that they’re open on Sunday). With it being only 15 minutes outside of Bozeman this is a really good roadside attraction. They only had 3 bears at the time that we went and only 1 bear, Max,was out at a time, but he was super cute and entertaining! They have a gift shop, but no bathrooms (only porter pottys) really nice and knowledgeable staff! Fairly priced, only $12.50 for adults.

Alex C — Google review

Amazing! These bears have a safe place and are well cared for by loving humans. The staff love to share information about the bears and tid bits about their personalities. Max was out playing in the snow. He raised up on his hind legs and waved and smiled at me. Made my day! They have a fantastic gift shop. All proceeds and donations go to caring for the bears and helping educate school groups and others learn about grizzlies. Go, enjoy, support this wonderful sanctuary!

Denise C — Google review

Absolutely beautiful seeing these grizzlies in person. The challenging part is these bears were rescue bears. Unfortunately they were either abandoned or their mother was poached. Terrible. However, this sanctuary provides as close to a healthy habitat as possible and keeps them healthy.Inexpensive admission which was good for two days of visits. There are many worthwhile causes to support; this is one of them.

D Z — Google review

We stopped here on our way to Yellowstone. Very interesting! Max was out, and he's quite the showbear. The guides were very informative, and they answered all my questions. This place is both educational and performing an important service in rescuing and caring for these magnificent animals. Worth a visit, and worth a donation toward their work.

Katherine E — Google review

Went to this place on April 9, 2023.They had one bear out. Staff informed us that they can’t have more then one bear out as they don’t get along. If you like animals or this kind of activity then you will like this place as you will see Bear up close.Jen was either caretaker or guide either way she was very knowledgeable and with positive attitude. She answered all the questions from us and others. They have small gift shop there too.Paid about $25 for two tickets.

Abdul S — Google review

Bella, the bear was amazing to see! 900 bls! The drive was a bit far, but still, I don't think you'll be able to see a bear this close. The employees were very knowledgeable and studied for animal conversion. All merchandise goes to the foundation, so it is definitely worth a peak if you're in the area.

Rhaja — Google review

We visited the Grizzly Encounter today based on other reviews and recommendations from social media. We were not disappointed! First and foremost, this is a rescue sanctuary for grizzlies - NOT a roadside attraction. These bears have either been abandoned/orphaned or raised in captivity at other locations and have made it here for a chance at survival.Today, we met Max, who seemed happy and extremely well taken care of! We enjoyed watching him play in the snow and rooted for him to get a huge chunk of ice out of one of the ponds in his enclosure. Fun fact we learned at the sanctuary today: bears have no reason to hibernate if they have a food source and are not pregnant, so any time of year is good to visit! You can get pretty close to the grizzly bears while still feeling completely safe, and there is an employee outside at all times to answer all your questions.I truly feel like the people who work at the Grizzly Encounter love their jobs and love and care for the grizzly bears. I would highly recommend this experience for people of all ages!

Ashleigh R — Google review

They were 3 bear, but they only came out 1 at a time.I understood why, but it was good to see them in their space. Was not too bad. There was also an attendant who was very informative with any question you threw at her.

Keies B — Google review

Beautiful place, incredible initiative. Those bears are rescued, it’s not a zoo and the people taking care of them demonstrate true love. One bear at a time can be seen

Antoine P — Google review

On our way through Bozeman Montana on interstate 90 there is this very cool sign for bears. As you drive along you start to see more for Montana Grizzly encounters. When you get there you are greeted by the nicest lady with a great attitude of happiness. She will give you the rundown on what’s going on and how to get to the viewing area. On your way to the viewing area you pass the goats in the corner. As you walk through the cutest gift shop with another very friendly gentleman who is very knowledgeable on everything. When you enter the viewing area you see MAX. Max is a 4 year old 1100 lbs Alaskan grizzly bear who was rescued at 4 months old. They could not find his mother. He is so cute the way he plays with his log and in the water. As you are being entertained by Max some of the workers there tell you different ways you identify the different kinds of bears and how to and how not to approach the situation. They teach you why bear spray is better then a firearm. When you are fully entertained and are ready to leave, there is a shuttle little ice cream truck in the corner. Delicious ice cream. As you walk out you see 2 rocks they had made for a manorial for there 2 bears that have passed. This is probably one of if not our favorite stop and will definitely go again. ( to see the other 2 bears). I highly recommend everyone to stop. They are a nonprofit organization who operate on donations only. No government funding. All in all on of the coolest and very educational places for the who family. Pet friendly, lots of parking and easy to get to. Entrance fee is 12.00$ for adults and 10.00$ for kids. They offer military and senior discount.

Minerva D — Google review

I'm a little late in posting this, we were here last week and it was awesome. We got to see Max, their "toddler" grizzly and he was super active and provided tons of entertainment for everyone. Big shoutout to the speaker, a gentleman named Hunter. He gave an excellent talk about bear safety and made a great case for bear spray as opposed to carrying a gun for safety during hikes. He was easy to hear, and took time to answer questions. He is clearly passionate about what he does and the animals, and we really enjoyed it.This is not a "zoo", you are not going to tee tons of animals here - but if you eat a close look at a live grizzly then this is your stop. Big bonus, your ticket is good for two days!

A M — Google review

An amazing experience getting to witness an 1100lb bear within 30 ft of your eyes! Great staff that answers any questions with amazing enthusiasm! We'll definitely be coming back here often!

Malik R — Google review

Such a cool place! We stayed at Howler’s Inn and visited this nearby attraction on our last day. Seeing Max was great! He was so energetic! Hunter was so knowledgeable about the bears and we learned so much from him. Could have easily spent all day here if we didn’t have a flight to catch. Worth the money!

We had a wonderful time learning some XC Skiing basics from Jodi this weekend. My wife and I are brand new to the sport, and it can be a bit intimidating starting from scratch with a new activity as an adult, but Jodi made us feel welcome and answered all our questions (including some we didn't know we had).I had a small crash which resulted in one of my bindings breaking and an internal spring flying out. Jodi went back to where I crashed later in the day and actually found the missing spring, then contacted my wife with instructions on where we could pick it up so I wouldn't have to buy new bindings. She went above and beyond, and couldn't have been nicer to work with during our lesson... I'd strongly suggest getting a lesson from Jodi if you're just getting into XC skiing, or if you've been off your skis for a while and want a refresher.

What an *incredible* trails system they have here! They groom very regularly and their rentals are in excellent condition. I had an absolute blast skiing nordic here the end of February 2024. Would get a season pass in a second if I lived closer!

I have played 200+ disc golf courses across 26 states, some of them in the top 20 courses in the world. The old disc golf courses on this property are still my favorite courses I have ever played. The current owners should be ashamed for removing such a magical spot for the sport of disc golf. This place could have been a Disc Golf Pro Tour destination.

Great selection of beautifully maintained trails. My rental skis were perfect and the scenery was stunning. If I’m ever back in Bozeman I would absolutely ski here again

We are so lucky to have Crosscut! It's so nice to have somewhere to ski that gets groomed every morning! The communication is excellent about races/trail closures and grooming. It's a stunning place to ski, too and so nice to have even more miles to ski with the new trails.

Bridger Bowl Ski Area is a popular non-profit skiing destination with 8 lifts supporting 75 runs. It offers great terrain, views, snow quality and fair prices. The resort's amenities such as food and drinks are enjoyable while the staff is helpful and friendly towards all visitors. One of the best aspects of this ski area is that it isn't crowded which makes it perfect for families with kids who can enjoy themselves without any fuss or long lines!

This place has some of awesome terrain, views, snow, prices. Absolutely no crowds. Friendly service. Great for kids.

Affordable, Fun, with outstanding skiing and facilities. We didn’t want to spend a fortune at Big Sky and we are now Bridger people! The skiing was great. There is terrain for anyone at any skill level and the facility is more than large enough to not be stuck on the same runs over and over all day. There are four lodges throughout the made and mountain and all of them have delicious food and are very clean and well maintained. Getting our lift tickets in the morning was quick and easy and every employee we dealt with the whole trip was extremely friendly and helpful. Bridger Bowl is a great place for anyone looking for a fantastic, affordable ski trip.

Eddie B — Google review

This is definitely a top class ski area. I’m from Houston Texas so when it comes to skiing I’m definitely out of my element as it’s just not something that I have ever learned how to do. Came here today and the staff was super welcoming and helpful/friendly. Went on the baby ski slope and kind of got some basics down on how to ski and move around. For anyone new to skiing like me I’d highly recommend taking some ski lessons as ultimately that’s the route I’m going to go. Definitely a lot harder than it looks and I have all the respect in the world for folks that can ski well for sure, as this isn’t easy. The other slopes and areas look incredible so hopefully once I get my skill level to a respectable level I’ll be able to take on the more challenging stuff. Also something worth mentioning is the cafeteria on site is incredibly good and they have lots of good choices for food. Highly recommended this place as it’s a lot of fun!

Brian J — Google review

The place I fell in love.... With snowboarding 😅🏂❄️ we always have a good time. Even if we leave limping. It's a convenient place to go for a pretty affordable price (compared to big sky) The staff are kind and happy. The food is a little expensive and not the best, so we pack sammiches. Overall, a laid back place with great views 😎

Sarah K — Google review

Great spot for first time skiers. We went with locals from the area because we needed a low key spot where the kids could learn how to ski and have fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave great advice and recommendations. We decided to get the kids into a group lesson at 12:30pm. It was a 2 and a half hour lesson with a total of 5 kids in the group. Megan their instructor was awesome! She had the kids doing the basics in no time. The kids loved her so much we signed up again the next day for private lessons with her. We also had Margo help the older more advanced kids and she was very good as well. The equipment rental staff was again very friendly and helpful especially with first timers who didn’t know how to wear or use the boots, skis etc. the on-site cafeteria has good options for food and the Bar had delicious belly warmer co*cktails. Overall we spent two days at Bridger Bowl and loved it so much. Highly recommend for beginners and families with younger kids.

Bina P — Google review

This was our first Montana Ski experience and we will be back! What a treasure Bridger Bowl is. Friends of mine had told me it’s a “hidden gem” and isn’t that the truth! Bridger Bowl makes a Montana ski experience possible for big families. You get incredible mountain skiing experiences for a great price. So many options at the multiple chalets to eat and hang out. Great staff all around, everyone is friendly! Really fun skiing, excellent snow and well groomed runs, and plenty of options for all levels of skiers. We had 5 teenagers on the trip and they were highly satisfied and impressed, not always an easy accomplishment!

Katherine B — Google review

Just a good all around place to ski an enjoy. Food an drinks good. All workers there are friendly and helpful. An priced right

Craig B — Google review

This is a great value ski. The negative reviews here just seem like grumpy jingleheimers. The slopes were perfect and had great powder today. I went on a holiday as well and it was not too crowded at all. The lodges are decent, ski passes are fairly priced for the value, and it was not overcrowded even in the holiday. Overall it is an excellent value that I would recommend.

Jackson B — Google review

My first ski activity EVER!! I thought Bridger Bowl was awesome!! I had a great time!! $20 for the beginner area. And if you go on 3 on a wheel days, it's $30 lift tickets!! Well worth it!

Mike S — Google review

Worth every penny! Great runs at ALL skill levels and more mountain than most will enjoyably cover in a day. Rounded out by great staff and facilities you truly could not go wrong a day or 3 at Bridger!

Tim A — Google review

Cool little resort close to town. Gets super crowded on powder days. Grooming is pretty much non-existent on this mountain. Many of the runs are littered with choppy moguls. There's not much off piece skiing unless you hike the ridge. Could be way better with a few more lifts and daily grooming.

Alex B — Google review

I love this ski resort we went on a holiday weekend and it wasn't even crowded It was perfect everyone was nice It was clean easy to get around everything that you would want for a perfect day. We took the snowboard lessons for an hour and a half I would highly recommend that before you get on a snowboard it was so helpful lessons were fantastic It is a must visit

Loved it! A great mountain, good slopes with no wait at the lifts (Wednesday), and beautiful views. Snacks and drinks were decently priced as was rental equipment. We’d definitely come back.

J. W — Google review

A really good skiing area, they have great places to start skiing, and some pretty good intermediate skiing areas, but there aren’t very much. More up the mountain they have a lot more of advanced and proficient hills. Great place to start though, and i’d really recommend.

We hosted our wedding in September 2023 at the mid-mountain Deer Park Chalet at Bridger Bowl and it was WONDERFUL! In the winter, Deer Park is a cafeteria-style dining establishment – but in the summer, it is a beautiful event venue. I cannot sing Jimbo and his team’s praises enough. Jimbo is extremely communicative and helpful. We were able to tour the venue twice and utilize many of the decorations they have collected throughout the seasons. The food is done in-house and was raved about by our guests (bison tenderloin and chicken piccata). The venue is accessible via personal vehicle and bus service, which was a huge plus! It is absolutely gorgeous and truly speaks for itself. I highly recommend considering using Bridger Bowl’s Deer Park Chalet for your next event, wedding or otherwise. Oh, and the skiing is great too!

Waterfall

Nature & Parks

This waterfall is located in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, and can be reached by hiking from the town of West Yellowstone. The hike is moderately difficult and takes about an hour to reach the falls. The view from the top is beautiful, and there are several other trails that lead to different parts of the falls area.

The hike to the waterfall was worth it. The scenery was beautiful and the pictures and videos don't do justice. Be sure to download the map first because there is no internet for GPS.

We love Palisade Falls and go every year while visiting family. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to go this year because the road is closed Monday through Thursday. I couldn’t find any warning about it before driving up there. We did go to Grotto Falls instead and had a blast. Posting here to warn people. Look at my picture of the sign to see details.

Easy paved 0.7 mile hike. The last end of the road is gravel, but 100% safely driveable. We took our 4yr old and he had no issues making the hike and loved reaching the waterfall at the end!

Ashton W — Google review

Gorgeous, short .7 mile hike one way. What a beautiful place. If you're in the area you should stop and see it. The walkway to the falls is paved for easy access. A bit of a steep climb but so worth it. There are many falls you can hike to in the area, this hike being one of the shortest.

Kerra D — Google review

An incredibly fun & easy hiking (really walking) trail for toddlers (& adults) of all ages! I’m currently pregnant and I also have a 3.5 year old (I was a bit nervous about taking him alone) but it went better than expected! Plus my son loved the waterfall at the end! Def recommend 💙

The falls are breathtaking. The less than a mile hike was a pretty decent incline but so worth it. The path was paved but may be tough on anyone with knee issues. The drive to the falls is beautiful as well.

The Downtown Bozeman Partnership is a non-profit organization that serves as a central source of information for shopping, dining, culture and events in the charming downtown area. This trendy college town is well-groomed with beautifully decorated corridors and an up-and-coming downtown scene. Despite some businesses displaying Black Nationalist symbols which may make some people uncomfortable, the atmosphere is generally friendly and welcoming.

Spend two days in Bozeman (at least) to give yourself time to hit Main Street and take in as many shops and bars and restaurants as you can. The Main Street is awesome but go down some side streets as well. Also, get out for some nearby hikes like Drinking Horse and the “M”. The downtown is very nice. It's a trendy college town. Black Nationalist symbols in a few windows May make people uncomfortable.Everyone we met was very nice. We enjoyed lunch and some ice cream.

Of course there are great shops and restaurants. But who knew Bozeman was so artsy??!! Stop in at the local galleries to see work from local artists. Then stroll along Main Street to catch glimpses of world class sculptures. You can find the guide map posted at Soroptimist Park at the corner of Main and S.Rouse Ave. Don’t miss the sculptures at the Bozeman Public Library too. The town of Bozeman is festooned with world class sculptures. Gem!!!

An up and coming downtown with more and more outside restaurant seating becoming available. A nice, well groomed, beautifully decorated downtown corridor.

Children's museum

The Museum of the Rockies located in Bozeman, Montana is a world-class cultural and natural history museum that boasts an extensive collection of dinossaur fossils. The museum features a fully mounted T. Rex skeleton that was completely uncovered in Montana. The museum also features exhibits on regional and native history as well as laser planetarium shows.

The exhibit was amazing! So many kinds of dinosaur bones and fossils and very cool American Indian displays as well as some antique cars and quilts and replicas of the way people used to live. Went to the planetarium. It was somewhat interesting, but not enough to maintain my focus. I had hoped that Montana Sky would've been showing all of the stars at night and expanding to an outer space journey showing galaxies and constellations from telescopes and in space. That would've been amazing for the planetarium room.... Instead, it was just diagrams basically of the stars in our system and how to find them. Well, that's what I got out of it. Regardless, the Museum of the Rockies is definitely worth seeing. Their gift shop is very nice, too.

Storytime A — Google review

Wonderful museum for kids and adults. Nicely curated with a great collection of dinosaur exhibits (including Montana's T-Rex). I also caught the Da Vinci exhibition outlining his many famous paintings and brilliant inventions (highly interactive). A wonderful facility--highly recommended.

Cathleen C — Google review

A great experience and dream come true for any dinosaur lover. We arrived at their last hour so they kindly gave us half price. We did not get a chance to see the planetarium but the dinosaur exhibits were phenomenal. The number of fossils they have on exhibit is astounding. You can see lots of variety of dinosaurs, a full T-Rex skeleton, the skulls of a Triceratops from infancy to maturation, and so much more. In one of the fossil rooms, they quietly play dinosaur sounds on the speakers, the ambience is executed perfectly to make it sound as if you are truly in a Time Machine visiting a long gone period on Earth.

C. T — Google review

Great local museum! I especially loved the pioneer exhibits, lots of strange little trinkets from people moving west. Excellent dinosaur exhibit as well! For a small museum, there's a lot to see. Definitely worth a wander!

Catherine Y — Google review

We visited the Museum of the Rockies on a weekday, early morning when they opened. We tried the day before in the afternoon, but the parking lot was completely packed so we went next day. The morning was perfect! No wait and the staff was super friendly and helpful in guiding us on how to see everything in the museum. Perfect for littles who love dinosaurs and there are other exhibits and artwork that I enjoyed so much. Agree with other reviews that this is a nice stop to make if you're in the area.

Vanessa G — Google review

Great museum - specifically the dinosaur exhibits and the outdoor 'living history' house. AAA discount and senior discounts are available, too. I would recommend 2-3 hours to walk through everything and get the full experience.

Ryan S — Google review

We visited Museum of the Rockies for spring break and we had a great time. The planetarium was by far our favorite! We loved watching the stars and seeing the Montana skies. It was very educational and we loved seeing the exhibits. We certainly will recommend. My son is seven and he loved it. His favorite was everything but especially the Montana sky show!

Kemoshire — Google review

Though my daughter (age 5) enjoyed herself and doesn't know the difference, I have to say that there was disappointment in my heart that the animatronic dinosaurs are gone. They really brought paleontology alive for me when I was younger!! The wheel on the dime collector was missing, and not one of the pencils at the drawing station in the interactive portion was sharp enough to actually use. We also were unable to make it to the kids show at the planetarium as it is available only once in the whole week! We'll be returning, of course, because there isn't anything to compare in the greater area, and she did still enjoy her experience.

Rebecca R — Google review

Great place to learn history of dinosaurs, native Americans, early settlers, and much more. I also sat through a showing of a super volcano in the planetarium.Grandson loved the place, younger 10 year old did okay, was a lot to take in.Eager staff, that I think is part of the college kids who work also with digging up bones...staff the entire place and will answer any questions you may have.Nice gift shop.I would come back to this if I was driving this way again.

Rhonda B — Google review

Very nice collection of fossils and historical items from the area. The Tinsley homestead with the amazing cabin and outbuildings was a real treat. The docents were all super friendly and informative. Check their operating days as the homestead is not open year round. Highly recommended!

Patti I — Google review

We have been wanting to go for a while now and we were not disappointed. We did go to the planetarium show, which was good. Lots of cool dinosaur exhibits. Many things I have not seen or learned before. This is great for the young and old.

Katie B — Google review

We spent around 3 hours here, as two 30 yr olds. The dinosaur bones and info were awesome! There's also some smaller exhibits for Yellowstone, the Native Americans, and an outdoor recreation of an 1880s working farm.

Meg P — Google review

The Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana, offers an informative and engaging showcase of DaVinci's works and inventions, providing remarkable insights into the creative genius of this ahead-of-his-time man. The museum's diverse exhibits, including the captivating dinosaur display and a collection of transportation and housing artifacts, add to the experience. The Living Farm exhibit at the Tinsley House offers a nostalgic journey into the past, perfect for photographers and those interested in history. With a range of displays and a 20-minute IMAX film, the visit can span 2-3 hours, allowing reflection on each exhibit. While the admission is $20 for adults, discounts are available for AAA, seniors, and children. With something for visitors of all ages, the Museum of the Rockies promises an enriching and enjoyable visit.

Chris N — Google review

Pretty cool little museums with a bunch of dinosaurs 🦕, info on the moon, and a planetarium. It is informative and a great place to take the kids.

Eddie R — Google review

I visited the Museum of the Rockies in July 2023. Amazing museum and really enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit. The fossels were amazing to see and a must if you're passing through or staying in the Yellowstone area.

Brian L — Google review

The Museum of the Rockies hosts seasonal rotating exhibits (microbes during our visit at the end of December 2023) as well as permanent installations exploring Montana's geology, paleontology and Old West history. The dinosaur exhibit is the best part of the museum. If you have young guests, the upper floor is a good place for babies and small children to play and learn too. For an additional fee, there are regular planetarium shows, and seasonally a historic working farm.As in-state, but out-of-town guests, we visit once or twice a year. Rotating exhibits are a hit or miss, but we always look forward to visiting the dinosaurs, seeing a planetarium show and shopping in the gift shop.Imagine my shock and disappointment to learn that as of January 2024, MOR is no longer honoring ASTC members from Helena, even though it is 99 miles outside the local area of Bozeman. Since there are so few museums in Montana as it is, this really is a blow to our cultural and learning opportunities.

Lauren Q — Google review

Great educational experience for kids and adults. Very clean environment and friendly staff.Planetarium observation room is great. The dinosaur fossils and all was incredible.

Jas D — Google review

Great Dino exhibits and always has an interesting rotating exhibit. Great interactive area for kid on the 3rd floor. Always a great way to spend a couple of hours with the whole family Planetarium and other videos are always a treat as well.

Josh D — Google review

This museum was so much fun! There were loads of dinosaur fossils with lots of educational information. It was really neat to learn about everything that was found locally, especially the collection of triceratops of all different ages. The planetarium show was a must see as well. Fun for kids and adults alike.

Michelle B — Google review

This museum has a full t-rex skeleton. This alone will be worth the full price of admission for some. There’s actually a lot about dinosaurs here, as well as exhibits about the natives of Montana and even some classic cars. A planetarium is also here, but it is pretty cramped and the video they showed, while interesting, did make half the audience dizzy. This place will be more interesting soon when they get their new temporary exhibits up, but none were there on this day. Still a rather good museum all things considered.

eaglewing13 — Google review

The dinos are fascinating, and they have some great exhibits, but they had no rotating exhibit, and the price was the same. It isn't the biggest of deals but there wasn't much else to see besides the dinos, cars, a native American exhibit (which I could talk about but wont), and the planetarium shows that we're, sorry to say, lack luster. I LOVE a good museum, and this was good...just needed someone to run the planetarium that didn't make me want to sleep. Super nice, though.

Razzi — Google review

Located about 7mins from downtown Main Street this is a good museum for young visitors and most of the exhibits are about dinosaurs 🦖The outbuilding are worth the visit to understand what farming life was like back in the day.

Went with my friends and we had SO much fun! It was mentally challenging and definitely pushed us, but we had so much fun along the way. Not too spooky, just good solid vibes that made us immediately want to come back. Thank you so much to the staff for giving us an experience to remember!

Hailey L — Google review

Was okay, instructions were given really fast. Wasn't too excited to leave my phone in an unlocked box out front. The room was in need of some basic repairs. It was a well used escape room and you could tell people had tore it apart before and they had kinda tried to fix it.

Kayla C — Google review

We had a blast doing the Heist room! The puzzle was well put together and just the right combination of not too easy and not too hard. This was our first time doing a break out room and the beginning instructions were very vague and difficult to follow. We were also disappointed a couple different times when we were asking for a hint and we had to wait quite awhile until the person working was back at their desk. The end felt really brief and anticlimactic. He very quickly went over what we were missing in the last clue we had gotten stuck on, but was very short and awkward and didn't do any of the ending photos with props that we expected. Overall, the room was a great experience, the customer service not so much.

Sarahanne O — Google review

After having an absolutely amazing experience at another escape room in town this one felt like a bit of a let down. The Asylum room felt like it lacked creativity and was unnecessarily complicated. The staff was very nice and engaging-- the actual room was just a bit disappointing.

Kyleigh R — Google review

This was such a great experience! I did it with my 3 other friends, and we had a great time. The owner is so passionate. A “mental” escape room. 10/10 would love to do the other room!!!

Caitie S — Google review

I did the asylum escape room with my boyfriend and it was honestly the worst escape room I have ever done. There weren’t any lockers for our stuff but rather an unlocked box. The compass we were using appeared to be broken and wasted the majority of our time trying to figure it out. At the end when he came into the room I asked him what we were supposed to do with one of the clues and he said it had nothing to do with escaping the room. Then why was it locked in the drawer if it was useless?? Definitely will not be going back to this place; it was a waste of money and the rooms are supposed to be challenging and fun not impossible and frustrating.

Camille H — Google review

First time ever!!! I had some pretty intense anxiety because I didn’t know what to expect. I don’t know his name, but he was so understanding and so attentive during the experience. I really enjoyed this and honestly can’t wait to do it again.

Bozeman Breakout is the place to go! Walking in, we immediately knew this place was the place for us! The lovely man at the front desk was super informative and definitely has passion in what he does! We loved every second of it and definitely recommend!

Amazing place. My friends and I did “The Heist,” and the attention to detail was magnificent. The storylines are really well done. I’ll come back soon, and I can’t wait for the new room!

Hayden S — Google review

This experience was absolutely amazing! We finished our room with less than 2 minutes remaining, and it was so well set up! Thanks for making it so fun!

Alexandra ( — Google review

This was our first escape room experience. We had a wonderful time with "The Asylum" that we turned around and did "The Apollo". The young gentleman that was running things that day dud an amazing job at multitasking and setting the mood for the rooms. I will be back.

Zeph C — Google review

so. much. fun. the employee was amazing to us (to the point where we stayed like two hours just talking to him.. i’m so sorry) the room was a lot of fun, and just challenging enough for us to have a fun time figuring it out. i had a great time and i’ll definitely be coming back to try the other rooms!

Kira S — Google review

Fantastic Family Fun Day for 6 (ages 11-47). Highly recommend the Zip & Dip package. Perfect introduction of both activities leaving my kids wanting more, "next time can we do class 4 rapids and the 6 bridge zip". Thank you to the staff for unforgettable experience for our family.

Had a great experience. My wife did not want to go but was glad she did after. The views were breathtaking and Julianna was a great guide. Would definitely do this one again next time we are in town.

Our first time zip lining. Did the Classic and happy we did. Anna and Joey are great guides. The landing is easier and gentler than it looks! Fantastic views over the Gallatin River.

Kevin T — Google review

We had an amazing time whitewater rafting with Montana Whitewater Rafting. I have to say that aside from this place being extremely organized and very knowledgeable the guides really made it extra fun. I highly recommend this outfit to anyone looking to whitewater raft in Montana. I cannot say enough good things about our guide Clara, she was fun, professional, knowledgeable and very friendly. Thank you Clara for being amazing…

First off I hate heights more than anything but, I had a great time still. My wife loved every minute. The zips were amazing and had great scenery especially the ones that went over the river. The guides were really funny and kept everything light hearted which is what I needed so big thanks to Sean and kayden or k money. I believe that was their names.

We had an awesome experience! Our guide Elizabeth was fun and knowledgeable…she made us comfortable throughout. My family has 2 non swimmers but we all felt safe and had a great time out at the river! Definitely give it a try if you are in the area…it’s an experience to remember :)

We were fortunate enough to be able to book in on the same day for White water rafting. Our guide was Gareth and he did an amazing job with us (2 adults and 2 children). It was so hot outside that it was a great pleasure by each boy to be dunked in the water where it was calm.Gareth was very effective at mitigating any dangers that we could have faced, especially with young children. At no point did any of us feel overwhelmed for our levels. We found all of the rest of the staff to be friendly and more than willing to assist us with anything that we needed. We highly recommend families to come here and enjoy the nature of the river.

John W — Google review

Amazing experience. Did the half day more challenging Gallatin River run, our guide was Gavin Cooper and he was simply amazing, kept us all safe and made you feel confident on the river. Highly recommend this place. Get out there!

Erika — Google review

We booked a private boat for a family friendly "less challenging" whitewater trip as we had 2 young kids (ages 6 and 7) coming along. The river is high this time of year so it was a lot faster and rougher than expected. They put us with a senior guide, Robert and he was awesome! He gave clear instructions, and the kids were screaming with excitement (thankfully the photos confirmed this) the whole time. From booking the trip, getting outfitted with all the gear, drop off/pickup, etc....it was all super organized and easy! We all had a great time, felt completely safe and would highly recommend Montana Whitewater!

Stephanie S — Google review

We had a great time rafting with Montana Whitewater! Our guide Cameron was friendly, easy going, and very knowledgeable. The staff walk you through everything you'll need for the trip and they provide all the gear, which is included in the fee. We had fantastic weather (I don't think Montana Whitewater can take credit for that, lol) and a really fun crew on our trip down the Gallatin. The youngest in our group was 8 and the oldest was a grandpa and we all had a great time! Definitely a must do experience at least once while on your Montana adventures!

Seren S — Google review

We had an amazing trip down the Gallatin River with Montana Whitewater today! Amazing views and the rapids were an absolute blast. Our guide Barbo was a serious pro at what he does and kept us safe and very entertained! He was hilarious and also a wealth of knowledge about the area. We couldn’t have been happier. A cool adventure. Highly recommend!

Grace N — Google review

Great time! Every single person we interacted with really seemed to love what they doWe did the less challenging white water rafting with our 7 year old. Henry was our guide and kept us entertained in the calm water and in the action during rapidsWe also did a zip line with Kaiden and Chase (Chance?). These guys were amazing. Kaiden had our son attached to him for the zips, and he was incredibly patient. Our son was TERRIFIED in the beginning, but by the end he was laughingThank you for the great memories!!

High limestone cliff used by Native Americans for hunting buffalo for 2,000 years.

Very cool place, steeped in history. You can feel the ancients there.Nice hiking trails, and beautiful views from the top of the jump.Highly recommended. If you're going by on I-90, it is well worth an hour or two and stop for the experience.

Von S — Google review

Take the short walk (uphill) to the interpretive area for lots of information. Amazing, quiet place. I can only imagine the sounds during the historic activity at Buffalo Jump. Worth the hike up the hill.

Jeanna H — Google review

Great place to learn about Montana history. The hike is short and easy for all ages.

Stephanie W — Google review

We spent just a couple of hours with a group at Madison Buffalo Jump State Park, but it was enough to know we will go back. The views along the trails are breathtaking, and the interpretive pavilion provides interesting information about the history of the place and the native people.A pit toilet and plenty of parking make a visit here easy and convenient.

J T — Google review

It's a lengthy, bumpy ride there however upon arrival you realize why you took the trip. There are different pathways to take and you can walk on them for a good while. We were there for 3.5 hrs enjoying the sites. Moments on top of the mountain where the thin air makes your heart jump out, that's when we would stop and just stare out at once in a lifetime views.

Time D — Google review

30 miles from Bozeman Hotsprings RV Park. Zero chance to get lost if your phone has a verbal navigator. *! Last 2 miles into Buffalo Jump State Park is a Rail road ROUGH gravel road that will shake your teeth out over 5 m.p.h..The park ? has a Clean rest room, plenty of parking AND a lock box & envelope to pay if you leave your car. $8.00 for out of state. No water, concession stand, no tables or chairs available. Not my idea of Kid or pet friendly. From your car to the only covered view point info center is 1/4 mile, up hill on a 1 person wide dirt trail. ALL up & down to the Top of the Plateau. 2 miles round trip AND you can get caught in a Thunder storm Down pour with only scrub trees to hide under. STUNNING Magnificent view for those fit enough to make it to the top. Go only as far as your legs/lungs will take you. I am 70. However i have been a laborer for the last 34 yrs. So a little advantage.

Stevecluj H — Google review

Beautiful scenery didn't see buffalo but enjoyed the small hike to a look out with interesting facts about the Buffalo in the area and how the hunters used to use the area to locate buffalo

Michael W — Google review

Nice trails, but they are not marked well. Walk around the perimeter of the park to get to the top of the Buffalo Jump area. Beautiful views! Worth the trek!

Suzanne R — Google review

Not to miss when traveling through this part of Montana. A true piece of history, and an amazing place. You can feel the ancients there.

Dr S — Google review

Worth the extra drive to get to the trailhead. There is a short mile and a half return hike to the interpretive kiosk and back. Very easy walking and the interpretive displays are very well done. The longer walk will take you to the top of the buffalo jump itself. Some steep climbs involved. It is not half as dangerous at the top as it sounds. The view across to the Madison River is exceptional.

Michael F — Google review

State park where Lewis & Clark stayed in 1805, with campgrounds, hiking trails & kayaking.

Very pretty place with lots of fascinating history. Has easy walking trails that are good for dogs and kids.

VERY confusing! We helped others after we figured out where the confluence was. Disappointing!

K. R — Google review

I was traveling across i94 and then i90. I’ve been intrigued by the Lewis and Clark expedition for a while and I kept seeing signs along the interstate that it was the Lewis and Clark trail. So when I saw the sign for this park, I knew it was a key point in their journey. Just a couple miles off the interstate, I took the time to drive there and ended up spending 90 excited minutes exploring. Lots of great history and some good viewpoints you can climb up to fairly easily.

Nick D — Google review

We are from Missouri so it was cool to see the Missouri River Headwaters. The ranger followed us to where we parked and was very quick to tell us that it was 8 bucks to park. We paid 8 bucks and spend a total of 10 minutes there. It was weird and not worth 8 bucks but they knew they could get it so they did.

Ryann C — Google review

Not what I expected for a state park. Took us a total of a half hour to see it all. Not sure it was even worth the entrance fee.

Mark P — Google review

Very interesting place to visit. Nice walk to the headwaters

Visited during the winter and was disappointed. The hiking trails were pretty limited and the "park" seemed to just be random paths along a decently busy highway.

Missouri Headwaters park has picnic tables with awesome views of the river and surrounding mountains. It's a great place to stop for a picnic lunch and then climb around the rocks behind the pit toilets. I free climbed up the rock face and through the rock window...it makes awesome selfies!

6-8 Oct 2023. Nice campground near the Madison River. A short walk (about 1/2 mile) takes you to the confluence of the Jefferson and Madison rivers, the official beginning of the Missouri River. Short walking trails lead away from the campground. Historic Three Forks is just a few miles away. Campground is well maintained even in the off-season. We found the bees a bit of a nuisance, but otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

John P — Google review

The most disgusting place I have ever stayed. The outhouse hadn't been cleaned in quite awhile. Feces on the floor and the river of urine. The camp host looks as if he just quit rehab and will not talk to you to even let you know that there is no camping year round. They will just issue you a ticket. The history was awesome. The river absolutely beautiful. Avoid the campground at all costs. For the safety of you and yours don't do it.

Dave W — Google review

Excellent place to stop while driving up or down I-90. Great place to stretch legs and see some history. It's really a gem of an experience knowing you are standing at the confluence of the biggest river in the USA and all of the history that goes with it.The pay station was unattended. There is an outhouse bathroom by the pay station. Recommend walking the mowed trail that goes by the old hotel. . Kids enjoyed the park. We stayed about one hour total.

Nice place to sit and watch the river flow by. Never too crowwded. A pleasant place there are sites that you can have birthday parties or just watch the wildlife. A good place for birders and fishing. Just watch out for the moose. They can be pretty intimidating especially during the rut. A great place if you like to watch the ice flows

Richard H — Google review

We were brought here by our local friends, and totally surprised by this beautiful park. As the “Head” of the longest river in the US, this park definitely left a clear and long lasting memory for my self, and gave me a good story to tell about the great state of Montana!

Xin C — Google review

I didn't go on any hikes but that is an option. Park has a state fee which you put in the envelope upon entering. Drove to the confluence of the Missouri. Pretty neat.

It was like going back in time, especially when the beavers were right at the confluence of the Jefferson and Madison Rivers. It was an added blessing to learn that this was discovered by the Lewis and Clark Core of Discovery and that it was also Sacajawea's childhood home. I was also thankful that the advent of silk, and a change in styles, saved the beaver from extinction. Here begins a river of frontier history and culture.

The hot spring pool at Norris Hot Springs flows into a cool spray system which makes it a fun place to relax. The campground has a live music venue in the evening, and is family-friendly during the day.

My husband and I are from Southern Illinois and visiting Livingston for our honeymoon and stumbled upon Norris Hotsprings. We were looking at a couple of venues for hot springs and what stood out the most about Norris' location was that we could book a private soak. Let me tell you the price was well, WELL worth it. 26° outside and the water was the perfect temperature. The gal behind the counter was helpful, personable, and an absolute joy to speak with. The 2 hr time slot was a perfect amount of time to decompress and unwind, with champagne and food to enjoy as well. They also had a gorgeous and talkative old "man" who graced us with his presence for a few minutes! 10/10 will be back whenever we make it back out here!

A unique spot to visit !No chlorinated water or treatment of any kind as the spring flows at 60 gallons per minute.Pretty nice place for a dip & a healthy bite to eat (or a drink if you’re into that kind of thing.)I like the live music year round on the weekends. Get there early !Only one pool & no cold water dip (there is a cold water sprinkler of sorts in the one pool.)A spot to enjoy if you’re camping, floating or fishing on the Madison river.A Montana tradition not to be missed !

Love coming here. Especially when we rent it privately. It’s literally the best option!! I have never been to the live music, but it always looks like a good time!

What a fun experience! Great place to chill. Family friendly in the day. Live music, adult style venue at night.

"You're simply the best, better than all the rest." I've been coming here all my life and while yes, it's busier now, only because it's wonderful! It still is what it always was- a natural wonder with better food and better atmosphere.

We had a private 2 person soak in early January/winter for 2 full hours and loved every minute of it. From the excellent water and temperature to the perfect playlist, music level, and vibe, this was an awesome experience. Not quite snow on the ground, but a nice crisp air in contrast to the perfect temperature water. The bartender, Miles, was perfect - just the right amount of checking in on us and offering more food or drinks and mainly just leaving us alone to soak. Beer/wine/kombucha and great food without having to leave the water.A perfect two hour experience and well worth it. I hope this place stays exactly like it is, wood floor and walls, minimally developed (just enough), and a great vibe.No idea how it is when there's more people there, but I imagine this draws a great crowd of people who are comfortable with it exactly how it is, and it's still fun and worth a visit during the open admission periods.

This is a must to check out! The food is incredible and the new owner Miles is fantastic. Happy to have met him and his crew when we stopped by for lunch. Fresh from the garden we had a salad, chicken burrito, chips and guacamole and a special made pizza by Miles with pickles ! Incredible experience. Thank you!

3 drink maximumFood was decentThough the food/drink next to the pool is slightly weird, I appreciated it in the end.Tent campsite was adequate for one night, but no shade and little privacy.Showers were pretty clean!

I had a great time here for a 1.5 hours trip, even in the rain! Very casual and small, but the local food and bar was a lovely bonus. It was perfect as a solid traveler, the pool made it easy to talk to strangers and hang. Would definitely go back.

Margo D — Google review

Nice pool for adults to hang out, kids too. $10 per adult. Wooden benches line the edge so you can sit and soak up to your shoulders. There is cold water spraying into the “pool” from above and that makes it cold when the wind blows. Food available menu has salads, nachos, pizza, rice bowls etc. also, ciders and beer. Changing rooms available and porta potties.

We spent two nights at the affiliated campground here and had to spend a few hours soaking in the hot spring. It's a really cool pool with a wood slat bottom. They cool the water to around 100 degrees so it's comfortable, and have cold water spraying over part of the pool so you can cool off if the heat gets to be too much. The real winner here was the attached garden-to-table bar and grill which had plenty of food and drink options. Many items on the menu are prepared with fresh ingredients from the extensive on-site garden!Definitely a great way to spend an afternoon.

Very quaint hot springs in the town of Norris. The water is a perfect temperature with a wood base . Beautiful drive along the River . The hot springs does not provide towels or lockers so make sure you have a towel and be prepared to leave your belongings either in car or not locked up. They do serve beer and food. Service was ok. Very crowded the days we went on a Sunday. Plenty of parking. They also have RV sites .

Lisa L — Google review

One of the best hot springs I’ve ever been to! The atmosphere was awesome, water was warm and the live music was great. Service up at the bar was friendly, quick and great too! Shout out to Miles and Annie who served us with smiles! Will definitely be back.

I somehow had high hopes for this place but it turned out to be a disappointment. The pool itself didn’t seem very clean and hygienic. The bottom of the pool was filled with moss and very slippery. It made me nervous. The restrooms and the changing rooms were stinking of pee. The food and drinks were good and that’s the only plus. I wish the pool was better maintained. The scenery around was very nice.

When I reserved two nights at this campground, it was only $33 per night (it's since gone up to $50/night). Given that and the "middle of nowhere" factor, I came into it with low expectations of a short stop on our way to Yellowstone. What we got here, rather, completely blew me away. My only gripe is that the sites are very small - not enough room for a picnic table on the narrow site. However, the bath house was one of the nicest and cleanest I've ever seen. The surroundings are beautiful, and the access to the hot springs made it a great experience. There was a lady doing landscaping who was one of the hardest working people I've ever seen, and it shows in the beauty of the place and surroundings. At $33, it was a steal. But even at $50 its still a solid value. Highly recommend!

Best hot springs in Montana! Friendly staff supplying you with local delicious beers and fresh delicious food. It's awesome when it's from their greenhouse as well. I recently moved so I'm going to miss you Norris. Thanks for all the great times ❤️☺️.

4 of us adults did a private 2hour soak. It was amazing! Drinks(during) and salads(after) were delicious! Definitely a must visit when in the Bozeman area! Relaxing and unforgettable experience!

Well worth the visit and entry fee. Lovely winding pathways through shade trees and sunny areas. The rose garden is amazing! Lots of little nooks to sit and relax or read a book. Picnic area with gazebo and grass. Kids garden play area too! Make sure to visit the nursery across the street and both gifts stores. A must see is the test gardens on the nursery side as well. They also have a few little cabins you can rent by the night. Charming gardens and a stream running through the arboretum. We will visit again when we are in Helena!

While staying in Boulder, I went up to see Tizer Gardens in late June. Several paths and footbridges over Prickly Pear Creek wind through trees and garden plots with cute sheds and sitting spots. The unique fairy tale theme, variety of trees and flowers, and mountain valley setting were not enough to offset the weedy garden plots and lack of maintenance throughout the park. There is a gift shop, portable restrooms, and a commercial nursery as well.

Bryan H — Google review

Beautiful place. Take time to walk around and enjoy. Bring a lunch and enjoy it here.

Coley K — Google review

Wonderful gardens and caretakers to match. Very peaceful & full of love. They provide nice grounds for their local fairies 🧚‍♂️ It was a pleasure to meet Belva, the owner, and talk plants. My brother volunteered to tell a gardener to not turn on the sprinklers but got the response "better to get a tongue lashing now than a as whipping later" because he was watering his girlfriends favorite garden and he promised to water it every day. Chuck was also a gem Gardener. Thnx

What an amazing little place! This is by far the most creative, cute, quaint, and interesting botanical garden I have ever visited. There are tons of little paths and switchbacks that you might miss if you aren’t looking, and an eclectic mix of art and curios peppered around the gardens. Every time you walk by a spot, you’ll notice a little detail that you missed the first time. It really is a lot of fun. Highly recommend!

This was an unexpected find. My wife loves gardens so, as we travel, we’re always on the hunt. We drove away from Helena about a half hour, then turned off the highway and ended up on a dirt road…. “what are we getting ourselves into”? But even though the entrance looked modest, once we got past the office/shop/store, the place really opened up. The nice lady gave us a great overview of the place, a map with numbers to go by and off we went. Two hours later, we got done! So many hidden curves to explore. And many, many hidden areas with chairs, or a bench, where you can just sit and enjoy the serenity of the gardens. This aspect is so unlike most gardens we’ve gone to. This is really more of an interactive experience. A creek flows right through the gardens, adding to its charm and makes the flowers have sound too. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and takes a lot of time to answer questions. Really worth the entrance fee.

Delightful, whimsical place, with beautiful fall foliage. Darling children's area with fairy and gnome garden. And a dump truck bridge! Can't wait to come back and explore again in spring.

This is one of the most amazing botanical gardens I've visited. I've been to some major botanical gardens at large cities who have multi million dollar budgets and Tizer is nothing like them. It's only 4.5 acres but it's rustic, Rocky Mountain amazing everywhere you turn. There is an amazing amount of wonder in a relatively small space. You have to wander every path and sit in a few different places to really appreciate the beauty. I recommend bringing a book or magazine, grab a lemonade at the gift shop and sit in one of the chairs with your feet in the creek. This is a must see while in the Helena area.

Clint L — Google review

We love to visit the gardens! Today we took senior pictures for 3 high school seniors.

Jennifer K — Google review

Wow. What a disappointment this place was. When you call yourself a botanical garden your raise the expectations very high. This is definitely NOT what I expected. It is a small private garden that was probably good once but has been totally let go. It’s now fully of bare patches, weeds, neglected areas, cheap ornaments and garden furniture that needs returning to the thrift shop it came from. They should be asking for a gold coin donation not $9 per adult. Please stop advertising this place as a botanical garden - it doesn’t come close.

Lee S — Google review

If you like to photograph plants, this is the place to be! A wide variety of sculptures, furniture, and knick-knacks add character to the gardens.

First off, absolutely do not go here if you don’t have a high clearance 4x4. The road out there is very rough. I had no issues with a 4Runner TRD. So, assuming you have the right equipment, definitely make the stop if you are driving between glacier and Yellowstone. Very cool to hear the rocks and great views from the top of the pile.

Andrew B — Google review

I loved my visit and slight off roading experience. I followed trail 2 for cars and had no issues making to the lot just below the rocks. I only ran into some traction problems once. Please be aware of the signs that show which vehicle type it can accommodate. The drive up is about 20 or so minutes.I made the trip up in a Tesla Model 3 RWD. Only section I could not do was the final section up to the rocks, which requires an ATV or high clear SUV. It was only a few minute walk up for the lot.I recommend if you have the time. Hammers are there for your use.

Michael S — Google review

What a cool place. If you have an all wheel vehicle with good clearance I definitely recommend. The road is great until about the last mile/half mile. It's a fairly easy walk up the road though so if you've got a smaller vehicle you can park before the road starts to climb into the cedars and hike in. Super cool, there are hammers and other tools there that you can borrow to test the tones of the rocks.

Kerra D — Google review

Caution: do not visit unless you're in a high clearance 4x4 vehicle - very rough road! And don't visit after rain or you'll get caught in gumbo. Gorgeous views, fun (bumpy) ride in. The ringing rocks are fun to explore and experiment with. Worth the trip.

goldenlunafish — Google review

A must stop! Really unique experience. Don’t worry about not having a hammer there are some there.Like everyone has mentioned the last 0.5 miles is not great for low clearance vehicles. Our CRV did not handle the road well. There is a parking area where you can get out and walk the rest.

Katie P — Google review

Very cool. Definitely have to have a high clearance 4WD vehicle. There are hammers there, but just in case I’d bring my own.

K U — Google review

I giggled with joy non-stop!Perhaps I a simple minded dolt. I prefer to think I simply maintain a boyish joy for life. Regardless, I absolutely loved our visit to this unique rock pile. I scampered almost to the top of the pile gleefully gonging along (one can pretty much tell which boulders to knock by noting the worn spots on them.) It was simply WONDERFUL.By the way, you don't even need to bring your own hammer. There's an archway laden with all manner of items to use to bang on the rocks.Yes, it is a tricky road there. Our advice is to take the right hand fork in the road unless you like slow motion roller coasters. I believe pretty much any SUV and most full sized cars would have no problem getting there.Have fun rock knocking!

Joseph S — Google review

I would NOT recommend doing this trail in a car or minivan. I have a fairly capable AWD crossover and I had to stop .8 miles from the top. Could have maybe gone further but possibly damage my vehicle or get stuck. A Jeep or lifted SUV should be fine
